Greenies Run Strong in National Meets

Christ School distance runners went multi-national this weekend – as in multiple national meets.

The trio of Brooks Barbee ‘27, Dallas Reeves ‘27, and newcomer Reynolds Young ‘27 were in Philadelphia for the New Balance Nationals Outdoor Championships, with the highlight of that meet being Brooks setting a North Carolina sophomore record for the 2,000-meter steeplechase (6 minutes, 10.09 seconds). It is the 11th fastest N.C. time overall in the event, which involves 18 hurdles and five water jumps, and was hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.

Reynolds ran the mile (4:19.50) and 2-mile (9:27.22), Dallas ran the mile (4:24.92), and Brooks’ second race was the 2-mile (9:35.54).

Noah Clancy ’26 represented the Greenies splendidly and then some in Greensboro’s adidas Track Nationals, coming in second in the championship mile (4:18.76) and fifth in the championship 2-mile (9:27.42) for All-American recognition in both races.

Cross country officially begins in August, and the Greenies will be one of the favorites for the NCISAA 4-A state championship, led by these four runners.

Sprinting-wise, Chyance King ’28, Myles Murphy ’27, and Jaxon Grieves ’27 ran the 400-meter relay (43.12) and the 800-meter relay (1:30.20). The two relays were almost 12 hours apart at North Carolina A&T State University.
