Greenie Trio Qualifies for National Soccer Tournament

Much of the success that Christ School soccer has had over the years can be directly attributed to players who have come up through the Highland Football Club.

What has been true over time is still true to this day.

Three of the Greenies’ top players – Jaron Richardson ’23, Jackson Knoll ’23, and Reeves Cates ‘24 – will be traveling to Orlando this summer for the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships. Their HFC team has qualified in the 19 and under division.

This will be the first-ever boys team to represent the HFC in the USYS tournament.

Jaron and Jackson were two of the four seniors for last fall’s Greenies team, and both scored goals in their final home game – a 8-2 first-round state playoff win over Metrolina Christian on Oct. 18. Jaron and Jackson are from the Asheville/Buncombe County area, where the HFC is based. Reeves, whose hometown is Pinehurst, will be counted on as one of the key returning pieces for Christ School next season.

The USYS tournament is spread out over a week (July 17-23) and includes divisions in 13U through 19U boys and girls.
