College Spirit Day Confirms 2026 as an Extraordinary Class

Decisions, decisions.

The feelings of accomplishment on College Spirit Day encompass the full journey that the College Guidance Office – with more than 40 combined years of experience in college counseling – takes with each senior. Every boy receives individualized attention and care, whether they are a fifth-year senior or new to Christ School.

The date of College Spirit Day itself is symbolic.

As with Friday, this celebration traditionally falls on what is known as College Decision Day or National Candidates Reply Date, as it is the day that most colleges require incoming first-year students to accept or decline their admission offers and submit an enrollment deposit to secure their spot. Our seniors wear a shirt of their choice which bears their final decisions.

The Class of 2026 applied to 202 colleges or universities with highlights including three overseas admissions – Cole Lewis ’26 (University of St. Andrews in Scotland), Eric Li ’26 (Monash University in Australia), and Evan Reich '26 (Durham University in the United Kingdom) – with domestic admissions from as far away as the University of California-Irvine (Tim Wu ’26), California’s Pomona College (Spencer Thompson ’26), and the University of Oregon (Gavin Denton ’26).

Multiple admissions include UNC-Chapel Hill (5), N.C. State University (3), Texas Christian University (3), Wofford College (3), Furman University (2), St. Bonaventure University (2), and Western Carolina University (2).

Thirteen seniors were admitted to what Forbes calls the “New Ivies,” because these schools rival the Ivy League in terms of prestige, academic rigor, and post-graduate success. These admissions were Pomona (Spencer Thompson '26) and the aforementioned five UNC admissions – Wells Alderman ’26, Sean Chen ’26, Will Henry ’26, Alex Jarrett ’26, and Isaac Schulz ’26 – as well as Boston University (Wilfred Freund ’26), Carnegie Mellon University (Zachary Price ’26), Colby College (Lansing Lewis ’26), Davidson College (Kevin Xue ’26), Georgia Institute of Technology (Will Grabowski '26), New York University (Kevin Liu ’26), and the U.S. Air Force Academy (Easton Hoffert '26).

Easton is Christ School's first Air Force cadet of the 2020s.

There are only 13 days until graduation and what time we have left will be filled with more recognition of this class, which has earned more than $5.3 million in scholarships.
