Olga Mahoney P’20 called everyone in Friday morning’s assembly her “favorite people in the world,” and the feeling could not be more mutual.
The Christ School community will greatly miss her leadership and presence, and wish Mrs. Mahoney well in retirement, along with her family, Kevin, Michael ’20, and Alexandra.
The 2025 Angelus yearbook is dedicated to Mrs. Mahoney’s legacy of 16 years at Christ School.

The dedication in the yearbook reads as follows:
"This beloved faculty member is a global citizen in every sense. Raised in Mexico City speaking Spanish, English, and Serbo-Croatian, she chose a small, all-girls high school in Connecticut so she could learn Russian. After graduating from Georgetown University, she was recruited by the CIA, where she hoped to honor the legacy of her father, who fought in World War II and survived the Nazi takeover of his town. Ultimately, she took an administrative position at Georgetown while she earned her master’s degree in Ethics and International Affairs. From there, she moved to Boston to work at Harvard (earning another master’s in Education) and Milton Academy. When her husband’s work brought their family to Asheville, she began her 16-year career as a member of the History Department and Service Learning Program Coordinator. Supporting students’ work in the community has been deeply satisfying to this service-minded leader. In addition to the student clubs she has advised, she has led numerous trips to places like Nicaragua, Rome, the Galapagos, and Peru, and helped to bring important historical legends like WWII survivor Louis Zamperini to campus. Her impact on countless Greenies is clear in the cheerful group pictures lining her classroom’s walls and the overflowing boxes of letters from former students. This Wonder Woman – a moniker coined by Mrs. Pulsifer P’15, P’17 – says that working at Christ School has “brought me so much joy; I got to do something I loved and it’s been a privilege.” The Class of 2025 is proud to dedicate this year’s Angelus to Mrs. Olga Petrovich Mahoney P’20."
