The Best of 2025: Robbie Francis P'27

Notable anniversaries can be simply hollow numbers without the people and events that make them special.

Christ School’s 125th year hit the stratosphere and kept on going.

In counting down to 2026, the Communications Department wants to honor the past 12 months by sharing the photos and videos that best distilled their Christ School memories or simply stood out for other personal reasons.

We start today with Creative Media Specialist Robbie Francis P’27, a Greenie Dad who just completed his first year on the staff, however, Robbie utilizes more than two decades worth of experience in independent school education and media.

Robbie chose three photos:

1. Lacrosse: “I actually had never been to a lacrosse game before last spring and then shooting photos of one was a learning curve I was excited about. With enough experience shooting photos of athletics in general that learning curve took care of itself. But the distinct moments that happen especially after an emotional win are always the good stuff. This was one of those moments between a coach and his athlete.”

2. Graduation: “I have shot photos and video of numerous graduation ceremonies but this was my first at Christ School. I love the tradition of the graduates walking down the line of faculty and saying their thank you’s and goodbyes. This moment here is of a student (Luc Madesclaire ’25) being really grateful for what his teachers had given him.”

3.) An Evening at the Loomis Residence: “I love a frame within a frame. It always catches my eye even when I don’t have a camera in my hand and this moment was exactly that. Thankfully in this moment I did have a camera. The lighting here at this event was challenging but here in this moment the chandelier really helped. Also, such an authentic and candid moment of good fellowship happening.”

Three of his video projects stood out to Robbie:

1. Nate Wilberding ‘25 Profile: “I have lived in WNC since 1996 and have been on some fun adventures both participating and filming, but had never been to the Rumbling Bald Climbing Area in Chimney Rock State Park. So, what a treat it was to tag along with Nate and company to film their adventure that day and then tell the story of Nate becoming passionate about the sport of climbing through a seed planted by his coach Jack Lynch.”

2. Christ School Outdoor Program: “The impact that outdoor adventure has on anyone is a beautiful thing. Getting to tell the story of how Christ School does this with its Outdoor Program was quite fulfilling. In any video production or creation of something there is a moment when you fearfully question whether you’ll be able to pull of the task of making anything good. So, it always means a lot when you get done with a project and you’re excited about how it came out!”

3. Christ School Cross Country: “What a season for the Christ School Cross Country Program. I feel honored that I got to be part of telling some of their story as they led up to decisively winning the state championship! I also got to meet some coaches and students that I didn’t know before and that always feels good.”
