Basketball Rises to No. 77 in National Rankings

We’re trending up.

Christ School basketball (26-5) rose four spots to No. 77 in this week’s national rankings from MaxPreps, leapfrogging at least one team that was previously undefeated in North Carolina.

The back-to-back NCISAA 4-A state champions had nine seniors – Washington University in St. Louis recruit Lleyton Thomas-Johnson, Cole Boyer, George Mason recruit Bryson Cokley, USC Upstate recruit Jamari Briggs, Keenan Wilkins, Cornell football recruit T.J. Hamilton, Union College football recruit Calvin Williams, N.C. State football recruit Bruce White, and Jozohn Price.

The cupboard is not bare.

Mikey Wilkins ’25 accelerated his progress by becoming a Greenie. The junior power forward became the team’s primary scorer in big games, averaging 13.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. He had 17 points and nine rebounds in last month’s NCISAA 4-A championship game – a 56-45 win over Charlotte Providence Day.

Brothers Madden Collins ’25 (6.1 ppg., 2.2 apg. 2.2 rpg., and 1.4 spg.) and Mason Collins ‘28 (4.4 ppg. and 1.1 agp.) will be ready for bigger roles with next year’s team. Mason was a starter for the latter half of the season as an eighth grader.
