A fundamental rule of any sport – a team that cannot score cannot win.
Christ School plays an attacking style of soccer, but defense has been the story so far this season. Once again, the Greenies controlled possession from the opening whistle Tuesday at home and extended their shutout streak to five games by blanking Franklin, 4-0.
After a scoreless first half for both sides, Felix Huebner ’26 was only forced to make one save. Meanwhile, the Greenies (7-1-0) got four goals from as many different players – Lyndon Bryan ’27, Davis Campbell ‘28, Wyatt Campbell ‘27, and Wait McCormick ’26.
Wait was a team manager in 2024 and his goal with 2:19 remaining cleared the sideline with jubilant teammates mobbing the senior from Winston-Salem. Assists were given out Tuesday by Costa Barlas ’26 (two), Lyndon (one), and Wyatt (one).
Riding a six-game winning streak, Christ School (7-1-0) travels to Rabun Gap (Ga.) on Thursday, with the winner taking over first place in the Carolinas Athletic Association. The Greenies will finish their weather-suspended CAA game with Asheville Christian Academy the next day at home. They are leading 3-0 with 18:34 to go in the first half.
