Jonathan Gooch '18 to Celebrate Eagle Scout Rank

Senior will study Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech after graduation

Jonathan Gooch wanted a venue that would live up to his Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony. The senior has spent enough time in the pews of St. Joseph's Chapel to know it fits the bill.

Jonathan will officially receive scouting's highest rank Sunday. And he has chosen to do it at Christ School.

"Becoming an Eagle Scout is the result of a lot of dedication," Jonathan said. "For the official court of honor, we were looking to have it somewhere special and unique. (St. Joseph's Chapel) is up there in those terms."

Jonathan, who is from Asheville, has been involved with the Boy Scouts of America for six and half years. He belongs to Arden Troop 61. For his Eagle Scout project, Jonathan helped out a local non-profit organization. He cleaned up a yard outside of the Brother Wolf Animal Rescue headquarters, disposing of litter as well as pouring gravel, and setting up ladder mounts and gutter guards.

Brother Wolf is a no-kill shelter that houses up to 100 dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens each day.

After graduation, Jonathan plans to attend Georgia Tech. He will pursue a degree in Aerospace Engineering at the Atlanta college.
