Senior has been an all-conference performer for Tabor football

Charles Beale '13 can picture a life after football, but not before finishing out his senior year as one of the most sure-handed receivers for Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas. Beale, who has been an all-conference performer for the Bluejays in the past, has 11 catches for 95 yards so far this season for Tabor (2-1). He has returned nine punts for 41 yards. Beale talked recently about his athletic career winding down and his memories of Christ School.

Question: Tell me about your role as a senior for the Tabor football team?

Answer: It's been good. I've had a pretty big role the last couple of years. Playing football at the next level is always exciting, and I'm just trying to make the most of it. Our offense is one of the top offenses in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics). I play receiver and return punts. I've made the all-conference team (in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference) the past couple years.

Question: Has it sunk in that your college career is almost over?

Answer: Yes. A lot of people say they are going to miss playing football. But I've been playing for so long. After 18 years, I feel like I'm ready for it. I've been playing football since I was 5 years old.

Question: What are your post-graduation plans?

Answer: I am majoring in Education with an emphasis in History. I'd really like to teach in the inner city, maybe in Philadelphia. My plan is to teach for a couple years, and then see where I go from there.

Question: When you look back, what are your memories of attending Christ School?

Answer: I just remember being undefeated going into the state championship game (of the 2012 season). A lot of people felt like that was one of the best teams that Christ School had ever had up to that point. It was Coach Moroz's second year, and we had a bunch of good players. I miss Christ School. I have a lot of fond memories. I come back to Christ School every time I come back to North Carolina. Mr. Krieger means a lot to me and I still have a good relationship with so many people there.
