Plumlee '09 Named
Academic All-America First Team
Duke senior forward Mason Plumlee (Christ School class of 2009) was named to the 2012-13 Capital One Academic All-America Division I Men’s Basketball Team on Thursday, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Plumlee garnered first team accolades to become the fourth player in Duke history to accomplish that task in back-to-back seasons.
Plumlee is the 11th Blue Devil to earn Academic All-America recognition along with Mike Gminski (1978 and 1979), whose son Noah Gminski ’17 currently attends Christ School.
A psychology major with a 3.36 grade point average, Plumlee has led No. 6 Duke to a 22-3 record while averaging 17.6 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. He ranks second in the ACC in scoring, rebounds and field goal percentage (.595), while also ranking fifth in blocks (1.6 BPG) and minutes (34.4 MPG). Plumlee, one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award, has scored 20 or more points seven times this season with a pair of 30+ point efforts. The Warsaw, Indiana native is also tied for 8th nationally with 14 double-doubles on the year.
Mason ’09 and his two brothers, Miles ’08 and Marshall ’11 are all Christ School graduates.
