Varsity Baseball Finishes Strong at Covenant Day

MATTHEWS – The first cut may be the deepest, but it was the last ones from Christ School varsity baseball’s lineup that stung Covenant Day the most Friday night.

What looked like an apparent save situation for the Greenies after six innings morphed into a runaway 12-2 road win.

Christ School (7-4) has now won six of its last eight games. Even though it’s only March, the team is on verge of matching its wins total from the 2025 season (eight).

How they got there Friday – the Greenies were ahead 5-2 when they tacked on seven insurance runs in their final at bat, benefitting from two hits apiece off the bats of Garin Gosnell ’28, Henry Tutera ’28, and TK Wright ’27. Jack Ray ’26 drove in a team-high three runs and Patrick Robichaud ’27 homered. Garin, TK, and Wells Alderman '26 had doubles, Henry also stole a pair of bases.

Christ School led 2-0 at the end of the first inning and never looked back behind the pitching of Garin, TK, and Alex Cocklin ’27.

The next game for the Greenies is Monday at home against Chesnee (S.C.) at 6 p.m.
