Studies have shown that students are less filtered, less inhibited, and more likely to express their true selves at an all-boys school.

For more than 50 years, the STRUAN has been all the evidence you need.

Christ School’s annually-published Journal of Art and Writing is out now, filled with 44 pages of paintings, photos, poems, and more from students and faculty.

“STRUAN celebrates the artists and writers who dream and create on Christ School’s campus,” reads a description on the inside of the back cover.

“Designed and edited by a dedicated group of students, our art of literature magazine displays select work from students and faculty. Over the years, this annual publication has included every form of writing and art, from personal essays to Post-It (note) poems, charcoal drawings, to digitally-manipulated photographs. On its pages, the definition of a ‘Greenie’ expands to include both writers and artists as well.”

To celebrate the release of this year’s STRUAN, there will be a school-wide Arts Night on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Kennedy Herterich Art Studio.

The front and back cover art of this year’s 8x8 magazine contains the striking photography of Will Peeler ’23.

The editorial board the STRUAN included Senior Editors in Rocky Hansen ’23, Henry Holland ’23, and Henry Lytle ’23, as well as John Barton ’25, Burnam DuBose ’26, Mason Heth ’24, Easton Hoffert ’26, Noah Hunt ’24, John Jaber ’25, Cole Lewis ’25, Chapin Mohney ’23, Spence Thompson ’25, and Patrick Wang ’24.

Faculty advisors were Erin Price, Emily Pulsifer P’15, P’17, and Wyatt Long.

Additionally, the winners of “The Hook” writing competition were announced Friday in Assembly. For the contest, the boys were asked to choose an opening sentence and build a story with fewer than 300 words. Ethan Park ’23 (first place), Dylan Edwards ‘26 (second place) and Easton Hoffert (third place) ’26 were the winners.

Copies of the Struan may be picked up in Mrs. Pulsifer’s office.
