Adventure-minded boys at Christ School are given all the access and tools to enjoy recreation in western North Carolina's mountains through the Outdoor Program.
Christ School's Backpackers are getting better incrementally, whether it is increased physical fitness or knowledge of their gear.
Patrick Shea '20, Christian Blanks '19, Finn Bridgeford '18, Sheldon Clements '22, Sutton de Kraftt '18, and Sawyer Duhaime '18 canoe, mountain bike, trail run, and fine-tune their orienteering skills every day after classes dismiss, all in preparation for an ultimate test: the October 21 Pisgah 10-Hour Adventure Race in Brevard, N.C.
Above all else, the Christ School Outdoor Program takes advantage of its surroundings. Paddlers from all over the world flock to western North Carolina, and many a Greenie has floated down the neighboring rivers over the years.
The environment is both safe and non-competitive for Christ School's Rock-Climbing team. Climbers only have to push themselves as hard as they want.
Math teacher Ken Tyburski has won 24 disc golf tournaments and is the first-year coach for Christ School's team.
