Recruiting Picking Up for Greenie Lineman Sam Browder '25

Appalachian State, Army, East Carolina, Elon, Gardner-Webb, Memphis, and Old Dominion.

And that’s just since January.

Sam Browder ’25 has been coming back with scholarship offers from many of the college campuses he has visited in recent months and even some he hasn’t.

Either way, coaches are liking what they see of the 6-foot-5, 280-pound lineman from Kingsport, an eastern Tennessee city which has been good to the Greenie athletic program in recent years.

Sam just returned from Memphis and Knoxville last weekend, where he got to see his older brother, Charlie ‘21, who is a tight end for the Volunteers.

Sam was an all-state and all-conference blocker for Christ School in 2023. His protection on the left side of the offensive line was especially important for the maturation of freshman quarterback Mason Holtzclaw ’27, who was a 1,000-yard passer.

One of the big selling points for Sam with colleges is that he performs in the classroom, too, with a 4.1 grade-point average.

The Greenies have been holding spring practice this month and were under the lights Friday morning on Fayssoux Field.
