Lacrosse Wins in Downpour at Christ Church (S.C.)

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Tuesday night was much more than your typical spring shower.

Christ School varsity lacrosse brought its own deluge to Upstate South Carolina.

The rain-soaked Greenies got goals from nine different players and went on a 12-0 scoring run to win 14-2 at Christ Church Episcopal (S.C.).

Nate Wilberding ’25 (three goals, one assist) started piecing together his hat trick at the 7:30 mark of the first quarter. Two minutes later, Cole Boyer ’24 broke a 2-2 tie and started the rally by the Greenies (4-3), who were able to cycle in three goaltenders – York College of Pennsylvania recruit Lucas Little ’24 (six saves), Noah Wood ‘25 (three), and Jameson Dow ‘26 (one).

The majority of the game was played in a downpour, but Christ School had established its control with a 9-2 halftime lead.

Some of the loudest cheers on the sideline came for two goals by defender Xander Ring ’25, a Brown recruit who also gave out an assist. R.J. Fox ‘25 had two goals and an assist and freshman Parker Abernethy ‘27 scored his first goal as a Greenie. Loyola University Maryland recruit Carter Sherwood '25 won 80 percent of his faceoffs and tied the game at 2-2 with 5:32 remaining in the first quarter.

The team now gets a well-deserved break before its next game – April 4 at home against Charlotte Latin. Christ School is No. 5 in the latest state rankings from HighSchoolOT.
