Greenies to Take on Nation's Top Player
Advance tickets now on sale for Nov. 14 home game
Christ School will face the nation's top-rated recruit in the Greenies' first home basketball game of the season.
Zion Williamson and Spartanburg Day (S.C.) are coming to Mebane Fieldhouse for a November 14 Coaches vs. Cancer event to raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Society. Tip-off is at 7 p.m., and advance tickets are available for $5 at the following link.
In all, three games will be played on Nov. 14:
- 4 p.m. – Christ School JV vs. Spartanburg Day JV
- 5:30 p.m. – Spartanburg Day girls vs. Rabun Gap (Ga.) girls
- 7 p.m. – Christ School Varsity vs. Spartanburg Day Varsity
Williamson, a 6-foot-7, 240-pound forward, is projected to be a top-5 pick in the 2019 NBA draft after playing a year of college basketball. The senior has been offered scholarships by every major NCAA program in the country including Kentucky, Duke, and North Carolina.
The Greenies will counter with 6-foot-4 guard Jalen Lecque '19, who is ranked 14th nationally in his class by ESPN. Jalen is a first-year backcourt player for Christ School and holds more than 30 Division I scholarship offers. Justice Ajogbor '20 is a 6-9 forward who has offers from Connecticut, Tennessee, Maryland, and Davidson. In all, four players for Christ School have Division I offers.
Coach Scott Willard has lined up a tough schedule for the Greenies. They will play more than 10 opponents ranked in the country's Top 100.
Coaches vs. Cancer is a collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The initiative aims to increase cancer awareness, highlights the importance of nutrition and physical activity in reducing a person's cancer risk, and promotes the American Cancer Society's free programs and services available to those facing cancer.
