Greenies Defeat Greene Central, 66-60

Christ School continues John Wall Holiday Invitational on Thursday

After a lengthy break, the (9-5) Christ School Greenies played Greene Central High School out of Snow Hill, N.C. in the prestigious John Wall Holiday Invitational in Raleigh, N.C. Midway through the second quarter, the Greenies found themselves up 21-12 with technical free throws by Brad Halvorsen '19, and eventually led 27-18 before Greene Central began to claw their way back in the second. A few Greenie turnovers allowed the Rams to make a run, taking a 37-32 lead into the half. It was clear there was some rust to shed after no practices over Christmas Break, but things quickly changed in the second half. Jalen Lecque '19 led his team (19 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists) with back to back threes and assist to Justice Ajogbor '20 early in the second. Tough play from Brandon Stone '19 contributed mightily to the team's second-half push as he finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Trailing 58-55, with just five minutes remaining, it was Norance Berry '20, who put the team on his back with three buckets in the final few minutes to give the Greenies the 66-60 victory. The team will play again Thursday against Garner Magnet High School at 5:15 PM. You can follow @greeniesports and @christschoolbb on Twitter for game updates.
