19 Ways to Support Christ School

Founded in 1900, Christ School is a dynamic learning community where boys are encouraged to become exceptional young men. Our success is not possible without you.  So here is our guide to supporting Christ School:

  1. Celebrate with us.
Each year during the first weekend in May we host alumni weekend.  All classes are welcome back to campus and on May 2013 the classes ending in 8 and 3 will be celebrated in particular. Watch the alumni page for schedule and registration information.
  2. Donate.
Make a difference by making a gift today and help us grow, or arrange to give monthly. Can't do it online? Make checks or money orders payable to Christ School and send your donations to: Christ School, 500 Christ School Road, Arden, NC 28704
  3. Get Social.
Spread the word on the social networks by sharing this link on Facebook, linking or tweeting us on Twitter [we are @christschool] or come to one of our events and blog about it.
  4. Become a Christ School parent or ambassador.
Send your son to Christ School and work with the Admission Staff on identifying talented boys. Admission staff travel boarding school fairs and visit schools to tell Christ School’s story.  Visits to campus are encouraged for all applicants, but admission interviews can be scheduled locally, too.  Contact the admission office or call 1-800-422-3212, ext. 106 for more information.
  5. Host a local gathering.
In a half-dozen cities throughout the southeast, Christ School community gathers to renew friendships, build new relationships and celebrate the school’s accomplishments.  Alumni, parents, alumni families and friends are all welcome. Contact the Advancement Office to organize something in your community.
  6. Store your support.
Shop at the Christ School Bookstore also known as the Jigger Shop.  Our best marketing is word-of-mouth from the families and friends who know Christ School well.  Sport a Greenies’ sweatshirt, ball cap or bumper sticker the next time you go out.
  7. Spark students’ imaginations.
The College Guidance Office invites speakers to campus to share their professions with the boys.  Volunteer as a speaker
  8. Season tickets.
Several times a year boys in the theater program perform entertaining productions on the stage of the Sumner Pingree Theater.  Watch the school calendar for upcoming productions and bring a neighbor or friend to school to watch a student production.  Performances are free and open to the public.
  9. Suggest learning opportunities.
Several times during the year, the students and faculty engage in enrichment days where they participate in activities such as glass blowing, walking tours, concerts, or community service.  Contact the academic office if you have a suggestion for an enrichment activity or would like to invite the students to visit your organization.
  10. Volunteer with the Parent Council.
All parents at Christ School are members of the Parent Council.  Each year, many volunteers give their time, talent and treasure to make the Council’s efforts successful.  Email Kathy Belk in the Advancement Office for more information about how you can be involved.
  11. Provide transportation.
Boarders need rides to the doctor’s office for appointments throughout the school year.  Email the Wellness Center to see how you can help.
  12. Pick up the phone.
Volunteer to make phone calls to current donors during a Christ School phonathon in your area.  Email Dan Stevenson '72, Director of Alumni for more information about upcoming events.
  13. Make a gift that costs you nothing in your lifetime.
Become a David Page Harris Society member by including Christ School in your estate plans.
  14. Tell us your news.
Sign in, update your listing in the alumni directory and keep up with old friends.  (Email Dan Stevenson '72, Director of Alumni to get your username and password or call Dan at (828) 684-6232 ext. 184 to do so by phone.)
  15. Show your Greenie Spirit!
Promote and attend Christ School athletic events.  Come back to campus to cheer on the boys or find one of their games in your area.
  16. Say thanks.
Email a teacher and say thanks for his or her influence on your life or make a gift in his or her honor.
  17. Attend chapel.
Visit St. Joseph’s Chapel.  Regular services are held on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Please contact Father Brown if you would like to attend.
  18. Get the scoop.
Read the Christ School Magazine and share it with a friend or business. Send in Class Notes!
  19. Spread the word.
Introduce Christ School to your son or prospective students through the summer camps at Christ School.
