Families, students, and faculty gathered on Yard A on Friday, May 20 for Christ School's 116th Commencement Ceremony. Following the speeches, diplomas and Bibles were presented to each graduate by Headmaster Paul Krieger, Academic Dean Joe Mouer, and Chaplain Kirk Brown.

Christ School Theater is proud to present Lord of the Flies by Nobel Prize winner William Golding, adapted for the stage by Nigel Williams. This play, not often produced in the United States, is directed by Mary Dillon with Artistic Direction by Sarah Baldwin. Lord of the Flies runs May 12-15 at Pingree Theater on the Christ School campus. Performances begin with a matinee on Thursday, May 12 at 4:30. Evening performances are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 7:30 pm. Admission is free and open to the public.

Miller Kaderabek '18 has made the Senior US National Olympic Team after coming in third two weeks ago at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Just one weekend later at the U.S. Junior Championships, Kaderabek and his teammate Wes Bolyard finished with the gold medal in C2 (Tandem Canoe). He will compete in the Junior World Championships in Krakow, Poland this summer. Miller is a Headmaster's Scholar and maintains a 4.34 GPA.

Ann Compton, ABC News White House Correspondent for 40 years, spoke at Christ School on April 14, 2016 in the Mebane Field House. Compton addressed the Christ School student body and 500 guests, sharing wisdom and anecdotes from her unique perspective covering the White House under seven presidential administrations.

Kiffen Loomis '16 has been selected as a winner of a National Merit Scholarship. He was selected from among 15,000 Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Competition, which recognizes those students who perform in the top 1% on the PSAT and who demonstrate a record of outstanding academic achievement. Kiffen has also been admitted to seven of the eight Ivy League schools and is waitlisted at Yale.

Miller Kaderabek '18, who came to Christ School as a freshman, will spend this weekend at the U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte competing at the Olympic Trials.

Devon Johnson '16 has been selected as a Morehead-Cain Scholar at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. Devon is Christ School's third student in four years to be named a Morehead-Cain Scholar, following Chambers Loomis '13 and Conrad Ma '15. The Morehead-Cain Scholarship is the oldest merit based scholarship program in the country. It is considered one of the most highly selective programs in the country, with only three percent of candidates gaining admission to the program each year.

The National Merit Scholarship Program has named Kiffen Loomis '16 a Finalist in its scholarship competition. Kiffen was named a Semifinalist based on his score on the 2014 PSAT, and has met the qualifications to advance and compete for designation as a National Merit Scholar.

The Asheville Citizen-Times recognizes the Greenies in their CAA Championship run this weekend after defeating Asheville Christian Academy, 72-53.
