On April 21–22, 2017, Christ School hosted its third Mother/Son Weekend. Greenie moms enjoyed mingling while spending meaningful time with their sons.

Over Easter break in mid-April, trip leaders Mrs. Olga Mahoney and Mr. Leigh Harris took nine Greenies to Virginia to revisit and honor American military history. As part of a service component linked with the trip, Christ School students will be researching the names of every one of the 4,413 fallen during D-Day and building a database – the first one to include this information all in one place.

For the past three years, the Christ School Community has united in an effort to aid Syrian refugees. During the 2016-17 school year, students and faculty continue to be engaged in education, service, and advocacy regarding the millions of displaced refugees around the world.

On Thursday, March 16, Hunter Macomber '19 threw a no-hitter at the Perfect Game Lake Point Showdown in Emerson, Georgia. Perfect Game is an elite amateur baseball scouting organization that produces over one hundred tournaments and showcases each year across the country. At Perfect Game events, players perform against top level competition in front of college recruiters and professional scouts from all over the country.

American Whitewater Journal published an article written by Greenie Richard Lytle '20. The article, entitled "Safety at the Green Race," explores a competitive creek race held annually on the steepest section of North Carolina's Green River Narrows.

For its winter production, Christ School Theater will perform Agatha Christie's classic play And Then There Were None. The production will run from February 23-26 at 7:30pm in Pingree Theater.

Christ School students have been recognized in the 2017 WNC Regional Scholastic Art Competition, a juried competition that recognizes outstanding artwork created by students in grades 7-12. Christ School is also one of ten schools featured in the Asheville Regional Airport Student Artwork Showcase. Seven Greenies are featured in the exhibit, which will remain on display until March 5, 2017.

On Monday, January 16, 2017, over fifty students took part in the annual MLK Day March and Rally. Greenies marched alongside thousands of community members, distinctive in t-shirts designed for the march. The shirts featured a quote from Dr. King's address at Oberlin College: "We must learn to live together as brothers, or we will perish as fools."

On Friday, January 27 at 7:00pm, Greenies will take on defending national champions Oak Hill Academy. The game supports Access2Success, the foundation that brought Greenies Justice Ajogbar and Wisdom Asaboro to Christ School. A2S is a nonprofit that works to provide sustainable programs and generate positive change for Nigerian children and their families.
