Senior Eric Smith hit a 28 foot shot at the buzzer to put Christ School into the NCISAA Championship game. The Greenies started slow and trailed by 15 pts in the 1st quarter. The team took their first lead of the game in the 3rd quarter on a Damarcus Harrison 3-pointer at 50-48. Christ School scored the first basket of the 4th quarter for their biggest lead of the game at 59-50, but the Furies battled back and tied the game on a pair of free throws at 64-64 with :06 seconds left to play. Eric Smith took the inbounds pass, dribbled up the court and hit the game winner at the buzzer.
Forsyth Country Day came out and took control of the game opening up their largest margin of the game at 20-5 with 1:23 to play in the quarter. Tony Kimbro scored the last 4 pts for Christ School in the quarter, but the team was only able to cut the lead down to 22-9. The Greenies outscored the Furies in the 2nd quarter by the score of 25-18 to get back into the game. Tony Kimbro had 9 pts and Eric Smith 7 pts in the quarter. Both teams continued to score, but Christ School was finally able to hit their first 3-pointer of the half on a Kimbro shot with only :10 seconds to go in the half and then Smith scored as time ran out to cut the once 15 pt defecit to only 6 pts at 40-34 at the break.
Christ School started the 2nd half with improved intensity on defense and started to cut into the lead. With 5:00 mins to play in the 3rd quarter, the Greenies went on a 13-0 scoring spurt to lead 53-48 with 2:36 to play in the quarter. The run was keyed by a pair of Smith 3-pointers and a Damarcus Harrison 3-pointer. Christ School expanded the lead to 57-50, by outscoring the Furies 23-10 in the 3rd quarter.
Marshall Plumlee's dunk to start the 4th quarter gave Christ School their biggest lead of the game at 59-50. Key Greenie turnovers and 3-pt baskets by the Furies got Forsyth back in the game, as they were down only 3 pts with 3:39 to play in the game. The Greenies failed to take advantage at the free throw line and the Furies continued to battle. Tyler Lewis hit a pair of free throws with :06 seconds to play for Forsyth to tie the game at 64-64. With overtime looming, Eric Smith took the inbounds pass, dribbled up court and drained the 28 ft 3-pointer to give the Greenies the 67-64 win and advance to the Championship Finals.
Eric Smith led all scorers with 22 pts, while Tony Kimbro added 20 pts. TD Dixon and Damarcus Harrision each added 10 pts.
