In a tightly played quarterfinal game at the City of Palms Classic, the Greenies played well against national power Mater Dei (Calif). With the game tied at 54-54 with just over 1 minute to play, the Monarchs were able to close the game out at the Free Throw line and earn a hard fought 59-54 win. Christ School had 3 players in double figures with Damarcus Harrison (12 pts), Will Weeks (11 pts) and Corban Collins (10 pts). Marshall Plumlee added 9 pts, while Justin Dotson and TD Dixon each had 6 pts to round out the scoring for Christ School.
Will Weeks had 7 pts in the first quarter for the Greenies as the game was tied at 12-12. Then in the 2nd quarter Corban Collins took over and tallied 7 pts. A Marshall Plumlee dunk gave the Greenies their largest lead of the game at 6 pts with 5:30 to play in the half. Mater Dei rallied to take back the lead, but a late dunk by Damarcus Harrison tied the game at 26-26 at the half.
The game continued to be back and forth with Mater Dei taking a slim 41-40 lead into the final quarter. The Greenies tied the score at 44-44 with 5:20 to play. Over the next 3 minutes the Monarchs were able to extend the lead to 6 pts at 54-48 with only 2:16 to play. Back to back 3-pointers by TD Dixon and Corban Collins tied the game at 54-54 with just over 1 minute to play. The Greenies had their chances, including a 1 and 1 opportunity to tie the game with :17 seconds left to play. Christ School did not convert at the line and were forced to foul the Monarchs, who made 1 of 2 FT's and rebounded their miss. They closed out the game making their final pair from the line for the final score of 59-54.
