Kevin Snyder '19 Breaks His Own State Record

Last track season, Kevin Snyder '19 was named the Asheville Citizen Times All-WNC Track Athlete of the Year. Snyder, now a junior, won the 3A NCISAA State Long Jump as a freshman and sophomore, including setting a school record in last year's state meet.

He went on to set school records for the long jump (23-1.75) and triple jump (46-0) as well as the 100-meter dash (10.89). Snyder placed in the top-five of two sprints as well – third in the 100 meters and fifth in the 200.

It appears the 2018 season has started off on the same note – Snyder extended his own state record in the first indoor meet of the season this past weekend at the Liberty Premier Invite.

Snyder, who jumped 23-1.75" last season, jumped 23-9.5" Saturday, which was good for #3 in the country among all track and field athletes this season.

"If he stays focused and stays committed to what has got him to this point, Kevin has got a chance to be a national-caliber athlete," Head Coach Randy Ashley said last season to the Asheville Citizen-Times. He continued, "I think he has a real future in jumping and could sprint, too, depending on what school he chooses."

With the beginning of the season just underway, Christ School is happy that, for now, he is a Greenie.
